"My personal goal in anesthesiology
is to make anesthesia for children as safe as possible.
"Most of my research has been directed at doing something better or more
safely for children. In recent years I have focused upon two areas: 1)
pediatric pharmacology with a campaign directed at the Food and Drug Administration
and the Pharmaceutical Industry to make children have the same access
to medical prescribing information as adults. 2) My second area of focus
has been to make the process of sedation of children by non-anesthesiologists
safer through the development of a "systems" approach to the process.
I was the pediatric liason to the ASA task force for their document on
'Sedation by non anesthesiologists'."
