"My major efforts have been directed toward improving anesthesia care and efficiency for patients in the ambulatory setting. I have written extensively in the area, authoring more than 60 book chapters and authoring or editing nine books. For the past seven years (and currently) I have been Chief Editor of Survey of Anesthesiology. I am also passionately devoted to resident education in anesthesiology.
"Additionally, I am intrigued by systems of health care delivery, medical economics, and the history of anesthesia. I received a Certificate from the Yale School of Management, the School of Epidemiology and Public Health, and the School of Medicine for successfully completing their jointly sponsored Yale Management Program for Physicians. From 1998-2000 I served as President of the Connecticut State Society of Anesthesiologists and currently I am serving as President of the Wood Library-Museum Board of Trustees. Additionally, I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia (SAMBA) and have been appointed SAMBA liaison to the JCAHO Ambulatory Professional and Technical Advisory Committee.
